Accessibility Statement
Last reviewed 2026-05-23
We want signageworks.co.nz to be usable for everyone — including people who navigate the web with keyboards, screen readers, reduced motion, or other assistive technology. We've built the site with that in mind from the start, and we'll keep improving it.
If something on the site creates an access barrier for you, please let us know — the contact details are in §05.
Our target is WCAG 2.1 Level AA — the international Web Content Accessibility Guidelines published by the W3C. Most public-facing websites that take accessibility seriously aim for this level.
We're not claiming perfect compliance or formal certification. Web accessibility is an ongoing practice, not a fixed status. Our current target is WCAG 2.1 Level AA, and we also review WCAG 2.2 guidance where practical as we improve the site. We fix issues we find and listen when people tell us something does not work.
This statement is based on our build standards and internal checks. We have not completed a formal third-party accessibility audit.
This is what's in place across the site:
- Semantic HTML structure — page headings, landmarks (header, nav, main, footer), and lists are marked up properly so screen readers can navigate the page
- Consistent heading structure — pages are designed with one H1, clear section headings, and a logical heading order so people using assistive technology can navigate the page
- Image alternatives — meaningful content images are given descriptive alternative text. Decorative images are either marked appropriately or kept out of the screen-reader path where possible. Our content system requires alt text for uploaded content images
- High-contrast colour scheme — the site is designed around high-contrast dark backgrounds and light text, with colour choices checked against WCAG AA contrast targets during build
- Keyboard navigation — links, buttons, forms, navigation and other interactive components are designed to be reachable and operable by keyboard, with visible focus states. We test key user journeys and fix issues we find
- Form labels — every form field has an associated label; required fields are clearly marked; error states use both colour and text
tel:andmailto:links — phone numbers and emails are real links that work with screen readers and dial-out on mobile- No autoplay video or audio — nothing plays automatically that you have to stop
- Reduced-motion respect — where we use animation, we respect the operating-system "reduce motion" preference so animations are reduced or turned off for people who have enabled that setting
- Responsive across screen sizes — the site works at 320px (small mobile) through to large desktop, with text that scales properly when zoomed
We're honest about what's not perfect yet:
- Mini-guide and resource content — these long-form articles are written by humans and reviewed for accessibility, but some images (especially older portfolio shots) may have descriptive but not exhaustive alt text. We're improving this over time
- PDF documents — we don't currently host PDFs on the site. If we add any in future (e.g. spec sheets), we'll aim for accessible PDF tagging at that point
- Cost estimator tool — our estimator is a custom interactive tool. We've built it with keyboard navigation and screen-reader labels, but it's a more complex surface than most pages. If you encounter a specific issue with the estimator, please flag it
- Third-party embedded content — some parts of the site, such as analytics scripts, the embedded quote form or map embeds, may rely on third-party code. We keep these minimal and will work around or replace anything that creates a practical access barrier
If you find something specific that doesn't work for you, tell us. That's how we find the things we missed.
The best way to help us improve is to tell us when something doesn't work for you.

If a page, form or tool is difficult to use, you can also contact us by phone or email and we'll help you get the information or submit the enquiry another way.
When you contact us, please describe:
- What you were trying to do
- What page you were on (URL helps)
- What assistive technology you were using, if any (screen reader, keyboard only, voice control, etc.)
- What happened vs what you expected
We aim to respond to accessibility reports within 5 working days and to address genuine issues as quickly as we reasonably can.
Our workshop is at 34D Constellation Drive, Rosedale, Auckland 0632. We can arrange to come to you for site visits, quotes and meetings — most of our work happens at your premises rather than ours. If you'd prefer a phone or video call instead of an in-person visit, let us know.
We'll review this statement at least once a year and update it when we make material changes to the site that affect accessibility. The "Last reviewed" date at the top of the page shows when it was last refreshed.
